In this semester, I have read the book Pride and Prejudice in English version. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favoritebooks. In this book, Jane Austen shows us different ways and attitudes toward marriage by describing four love stories in the book. Many people may simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative.This masterpiece ofJane Austenperfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at that time.Thereby, it reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid without considering all of these.

In this book, Jane Austengave the people vivid characters.The characters have their own personalities. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.And that is why I like it.

The character in this book I like best is Elizabeth. From where I stand, Elizabeth is unique. From story to see, Elizabeth has both resourcefulness and courage. She has vision and very strong self-respect. What’s more, she is good at thinking. She owns her views and behaves properly. In the novel, expresses his love and wants to marry her, she can promptly refuse him. Furthermore, when Darcy’s aunt arrogantly puts forward her requirement that Elizabeth should reject Mr.Darcy, she firmly turns down her offensive requirement. From it, we can see that Elizabeth has her own persistence of love and never stop pursuing. Of course at first Elizabeth also displays significant pride. Though not influenced by economic status, Elizabeth is most proud of her ability of perception. Although it is her wrong perception which causes her to misjudge Mr.Darcy and also Wickham, when Elizabeth hears of Wickham’saccusations of Darcy, she trusts the negative perception of him, and mistakenly views Darcy’sconceit. Fortunately she finally eliminated her prejudice to him when she got an acquaintance of what Darcy did for her, because they give up prejudice to each other, the can have a happy marriage.In my opinion, the personality ethic of Elizabeth caused her independent idea of love and marriage and in consequence she earned a happy life.

The language used in this book is one of the reason I like the book. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel, which impresses me for a long time. It describes a love story mainly between Elisabeth, who I like the best, and a rich and proud man, Darcy.

The story began with the arrival of a crowd of rich men who rent a house near the Bennet. In a ball, Elisabeth gave such a bad impression on Darcy's first pride that she refused Darcy's first proposal. Darcy was so surprised by Elisabeth's refusal that he loved Elisabeth more deeply. And Elisabeth's antipathy（厌恶，憎恨） made Darcy realize his shortcomings. He was not angry about Elisabeth's censure, but also he changed his previous proud attitude. During Elisabeth's travel in Darcy's manor（庄园）。 Darcy was very nice to her uncle and aunt, different from previous proud attitude. When one of Elisabeth's sisters ran away with Wickham, Darcy helped Elisabeth find her sister and prevent her sister from the loss of reputation, with nobody knowing that it was he who helped the Bennet. She is intelligent, beautiful, intelligent, and eager for true love. Because of the prejudice against Darcy, she easily refused Darcys proposal, which led to many twists and turns in their relationship. At last she got rid of prejudice.

Darcy is a young man with rich family and noble title. He was noble in appearance, flexible in mind and kind in heart, and he was very kind even to his enemy, Weiken. However, he is considered arrogant because of his bad association with strangers. After accepting Elizabeths criticism modestly, he won Elizabeths love.

This let me know that a person cant be arrogant because of his familys wealth, and he cant guess others at will and be prejudiced against others.

First, we throw our eyes to the male characters.Take George Wickham for example, he is an old acquaintance of Darcy from childhood, and an officer in the militia unit stationed near Merton.Superficially charming, he rapidly forms a friendship with Elizabeth Benet, prompting remarks upon his suitability as a potential husband.He spreads numerous tales about the wrongs Darcy has done to him, coloring the popular perception of the other man in local society.It is eventually revealed that these tales are distortions, and that Darcy was the wronged man in their acquaintance.He is a man with bad quality, but his appearance is deceptive, he has a witty tongue and elegant behavior, who is a deadly attraction to women like he was addicted to gambling and escape from Breton because of a large amount of debts.Lydia has neither high status nor money, but he is willing to have an accompanier on his escaping way.The book never mentioned why Wickham choose Lydia as his wife.The primary reason, in my eyes, is money.Because he fell in love with Mi King and Elizabeth before not because of love but money.At that time, Wickham can not have a large heritage because of his lower social status, so he is greedier for money.At last, Mr.Darcy helped him to pay for his debts and provided him with another 1000 pounds and a official position, which immediately led to his marriage.So we can easily see, in spite of paion, money played an important role in their marriage.Besides, aged twenty-five, is Mr.Benet’s clergyman cousin and, as Mr.Benet has no son, heir to his estate.Austen described him as "not a sensible man, and the deficiency of nature had been but little aisted by education or society.” He is a clumsy and conceit man and good at flattering, so he can easily appreciated

Mr. Darcy offered the money and did everything departing from his will just because he loved Elizabeth so much. He could not hide his feelings any more and showed his affection to Elizabeth at last, who, because of a series of misunderstandings towards him, rejected him without hesitation. This plot is the climax of the novel as the prejudice of Elizabeth to Mr. Darcy was exposed and removed since then. And the combination of the two young couples, Jane and Bingley, Elizabeth and Darcy came at last.

Pride and Prejudice is a famous classic written by Jane Austen. I was attracted by the characters and plots of the film adapted from the novel.

Elizabeth is the heroine of the story. When she meets Darcy, a handsome, rich but arrogant man, on the party for the first time, she is dissatisfied with the proud manner of Darcy. Darcy looks down on those who are in a lower social class,

including Elizabeth. However, after getting to know the courage, independence and confidence of Elizabeth, he almost falls in love with her. But Elizabeth believes the lies of Wickham which causes her great prejudice to Darcy. She rejects Darcy's propose marriage to protect her self-respect. Finally, Darcy goes away because he couldn't tolerate Elizabeth's sisters' vulgar manners. He writes a long letter to explain his thoughts and love to Elizabeth. After reading it, Elizabeth feels guilty about

misjudging Darcy and regrets turning him down. As time goes away, Darcy gradually improves his pride and keeps helping Elizabeth's family out from troubles. At last, Elizabeth removes the prejudice to Darcy and accepts his propose marriage.

From the film I learn that we can't judge a man immediately by the first impression. If we are controlled by our subjective senses, it will easy cause prejudice and
