《简爱》读后感英文版 篇一

She was seduced by a so-called gentleman—Alec, and from then on her life totally changed from this loss of innocence. People looked down on her and respected her no more. Actually she did nothing wrong because before she was seduced she knew nothing of men. She was just a girl when she first met that terrible man.

She was forced by the gossips and the church to blame herself for this accident, so she thought she deserved nothing good. In order to get rid of the past she decided to go to a distant dairy farm but was still saying to herself that she was wrong. Maybe God didn’t agree with that, because the Lord gave her someone she loved with her whole heart and life—Angel Chare. Angel popped the question to her but she refused him without saying why. She said she loved him deeply and perhaps no one in the world could love him more than she did but she could not marry him for some unspoken reason. Angel wasn’t satisfied with this vague answer and did his best to win Tess. Somehow she agreed and they soon fixed the wedding day. Soon after their wedding Angel confessed the crime he committed to a woman long time ago and asked for Tess’s forgiveness. Tess was not at all angry and forgave Angel at once; in fact she was rather happy and excited for she also had things to confess.

She sat and told everything to Angel, hoping he would forgive her as he was forgiven but she was wrong. She was not forgiven, not as she thought she was. The woman pays.

Without Angel’s love, nothing meant anything to her. The result wasn’t important now. Tess was arrested for her murder of that so-called gentleman. Why? She still loved Angel and when he finally went back to her and asked for HER forgiveness, after he regretted what he had done unfair to Tess, she was desperate. That was too late—Alec had always told Tess that Angel would never come back so he won Tess’s trust. Unluckily Angel did come back and found Tess.! Everything was too late!

Tess was deceived and she lost Angel for the second time! The strengh of her love was so strong that she had forgotten the difference between right and wrong. Before that she had done nothing wrong but when she killed Alec, everything really changed! She became a criminal! How could it be? She was as pure and innocent as the good wife in the Bible. Her whole character was honest and faithful. Angel figured out at last that a person should be judged not only on what he has done but also on what he wanted to do!

Tess didn’t want to be seduced by man and she had no power to defend herself so she lost her innocence and that’s all! Angel also did the wrong thing and it was even more serious than Tess’s crime but HE was not blamed for it. Why it is always the woman who pays? Why they are always hurt? Why was Tess’s girlish purity lost? Why does the wrong man take the wrong woman? Why do the bad often ruin the good? Why is beauty damaged by ugliness? Women are too weak! Thousands of years of history have shown us that women have always been treated unfairly!

In old China there was a culture, which didn’t think of women as human beings. If you asked one if he was the oldest in his family, he would probably answer “the oldest one” even if he had some elder sisters. If you asked why then he would say, “Ha, they are not included!”

People gave birth to many girls in order to have only one boy to keep the family name going. They thought girls had no use for the family. They would be married and go to live with their husbands’ home and be their wives some day sooner or later. So they were extremely hard on girls.

Girls should be hard working, faithful, loyal, intelligent, and virtuous and the most important thing was she must be a maiden! If her husband was the first man who touched her then she was a good girl, a good wife no matter how she thought. If she wasn’t, then she would gain a very bad reputation and nobody would dare to go near her. What about men? People did not care whether he was an experienced man or not, nor did they care about his character. They thought man equals power and power equals rights…

Now let’s not be so bitter. Nowadays women’s situations have become much better. Some are because of the change of society and some are because of civilization. Just let those poor painful women like TESS be just a memory.

简爱英语读后感 篇三

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite foreign novels in my reading life. Ignorant self, filled with the feelings of young girls, quietly into the inner world of Jane Eyre, to understand her emotions, the mentality of the course of a mature and understanding.

Jane Eyre, not tall, thin, plain, as the crowd is not outstanding self, no gorgeous appearance, not the vanity to meet the proud and delighted. I love Jane Eyre, that kind, stubborn girl. Perhaps, Janes appearance can find self shadow, to comfort the mediocre self. As a woman, who are eager to become self confidence with dazzling pearl, brilliance and bragging rights, but not everyone can shine, there is only a mediocre, outstanding; poor, only have wealth; humble, is perfect, is arrogant; ugly; good is evil. Everything in the world is always antagonistic, and it looks colorful, weaving the life of the most tedious complex network, including vientiane.

At first, I thought the story was mainly about how the hero followed her feelings, and slowly read deeper to understand the protagonist jane. The unique character presented by love reflects her extraordinary temperament and a very rich emotional world. Although she is small, ordinary, no money, no status, but she pursues independent personality, not to bow to life, advocating equality. At that time in England, such women were valuable and respectable. Jane. Love dies from parents, and lives in the aunts home where they are criticized and despised. At the start of the study life, but the little girl and best, Mr. Blow Hester when the smear her face, after a good Danboer lady to help free her "charges". After the death of Helen, a good friend, jane. Love in prison, Ward school for eight years of good education. She was not willing to live in school, she longed for the outside world. Then, she went to Thornfield Hall do miss Adele tutor, and then fell in love with the house owner Mr. Rochester, he has a body that was not good-looking, is a gentleman, but very angry. When they got ready to get married, they were surprised to know that Mr. Rochester was a married man! His wife was a madman, lived in Thornfield hall. Jane. Love decided to leave him. To muddle along without any aim after three days, when she was starving by a Saint John rescued. As a rural teacher. When Saint John asked her to marry her, she decided to return to Rochester, even though Mr. had been blind and disabled at the time. Jane. Love is strong when it comes to dealing with all kinds of suffering. As she learned her idol: Mr. Rochester is already married, she did not cry, be self locked in the room to bear all the darkness, mind a "leave Thornfield" of the idea, and in spite of Mr. Rochester begging, stubbornly leave. She was strong, she was not knocked down by great suffering; she was stubborn and believed that she would change her fate; she longed for true love, and gained extraordinary feelings.

Jane Bront by EFCI eyes to each individual insight into the surrounding, Jane can clearly feel Rochesters extraordinary vision, Ingram shallow, two cousin talent and character, and the great cold in Saint John. In her works, Jane Eyres sharp eyes and quick thinking and close communication with her soul, and her soul fight repulsion.

Therefore, the work attracted me the most is Bronts Jane Eyres wisdom, she is not as keen on a mediocre taste, she is good at thinking, failing cautious but not rash, independent thought and not Lai, tenacious vitality, with dignity and to maintain, follow your heart and not worldly, work principle the reason, not heartless, has a unique perspective on your life.

《简爱》英文读后感 篇四

This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.

It seems to me that many readers' English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.

Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane's education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn't get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a mon person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden's owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester

简爱英语读后感 篇五

Jane was an orphan. She lived in her aunt’s house. Her aunt didn’t like her, so she took her to an orphanage. Jane studied in the orphanage and learned a lot of things. When Jane grew up, she worked as a governess in a big family and taught the child in this family. Bit by bit, Jane and her master Mr Rochester fell in love with each other. But the master had a wife. She was a madwoman. When Jane knew this, she left her teaching post. But she could not forget her master. So, at last, she visited her master. At that time, her master’ house was burnt down and he became handicapped. His mad wife died in the big fire. Jane decided to get married with him and look after him.

Jane Eyre found his real love and she was a happy woman. The most important thing is that Jane believed everybody were equal.

In my mind, though a person’s beautiful face can make others once feel that is attractive .if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last , when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will not like the person any more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as an everlsting beauty, just as Kahill Gibran had said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted. There are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.

《简爱》英文读后感 篇六

Jane Eyre was published in 1847 under the androgynous pseudonym of "Currer Bell。" The publication was followed by widespread success。 Utilizing two literary traditions, the Bildungsroman and the Gothic novel, Jane Eyre is a powerful narrative with profound themes concerning genders, family, passion, and identity。 It is unambiguously one of the most celebrated novels in British literature。

Born in 1816, Charlotte Bronte was the third daughter of Patrick Bronte, an ambitious and intelligent clergyman。 According to Newsman, all the Bronte children were unusually precocious and almost ferociously intelligent, and their informal and unorthodox educations under their father’s tutelage nurtured these traits。 Patrick Bronte shared his interests in literature with his children, toward whom he behaved as though they were his intellectual equals。 The Bronte children read voraciously。 Charlotte’s imagination was especially fired by the poetry of Byron, whose brooding heroes served as the prototypes for characters in the Bronte’s juvenile writings as well as for such figures as Mr。 Rochester in Jane Eyre (2)。 Bronte’s formal education was limited and sporadic – ten months at the age of 8 at Cowan Bridge Clergy Daughters’ School (the model for Lowood Institution in Jane Eyre), eighteen months from the age of 14 at Roe Head School of Miss Margaret Wooler (the model for Ms。 Temple) (Nestor 3—4)。 According to Newman, Bronte then worked as a teacher at Roe Head for three years before going to work as a governess。 Seeking an alternative way of earning money, Charlotte Bronte went to Brussels in 1842 to study French and German at the Pensionnat Heger, preparing herself to open a school at the parsonage。 She seems to have fallen in love with her charismatic teacher, Constantin Heger。 The experience seems on a probable source for a recurrent feature in Bronte’s fiction: “relationships in which the inflammatory spark of intellectual energy ignites an erotic attraction between a woman and a more socially powerful man” (Newman 6)。 The Brontes’ efforts to establish a school at the parsonage never got off the ground。 Still seeking ways to make money, Charlotte published, with her sisters, the unsuccessful Poems by Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell。 Her first effort to publish a novel, The Professor, was also unsuccessful。 Jane Eyre, published in October 1847, however, was met with great enthusiasm and became one of the best sellers。 As “Currer Bell” Bronte completed two more novels, Shirley and Villette。 She married Reverend William Bell Nicholls in 1854 and died nine months later, at the age of thirty—nine in 1855 (Nestor 4—5)。

The story of Jane Eyre takes place in northern England in the early to mid—19th Century。 (“Jane Eyre” 151) It starts as the ten—year—old Jane, a plain but unyielding child, is excluded by her Aunt Reed from the domestic circle around the hearth and bullied by her handsome but unpleasant cousins。 Under the suggestion of Mr。 Lloyd, an apothecary that sympathizes Jane, Mrs。 Reed sends Jane to Lowood Institution operated by a hypocritical Evangelicalist, Mr。 Brocklehurst, who chastises Jane in front of the class and calls her a liar。 At Lowood, Jane befriends with Helen Burns, who helps the newly arrived Jane adjust to the austere

简爱英语读后感 篇七

Jane Eyre is the masterpiece of Charlotte Bronte, an English woman author in 19th century. The works possess romanticism and realism. It is also thought that this book is author’s autobiography.

Introduction of Jane Eyre

Jane was a pure and thinkable woman, who lived in substrata of society and struck with life. But she was fractious and the sprite of perusing happiness. The works sing the love respecting each other and break away from conman customs and preoccupation. The most successful of this book is to figure a female image who dared to gainst and try for liberte and egalite.

Characteristics of characters

Jane Eyre was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. She had a terrible childhood but it’s not affected her future because she is poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl.

Jane was also a thinkable woman in her love, she thought love is equal, free and respecting, so she gain a happy ending with beautiful personality.

My thoughts of Jane Eyre

Jane owns goodness for her lover, Rochester, who lost arms and eyes, and also for someone who had hurt her.

Jane owns pursuit for justice; it helps her to promote goodness on one side and check the badness on the other side.

Jane owns self-respect and clear situation on equality. Also her life experience is hardships, but she never underrates herself. She thinks everyone is the same. She has the right to gain happiness through hardworking.

Jane owns toughness, confidence and striving for life……

She is not beautiful and wealthy and very normal in conman’s mind. But in my opinion, the beauty on the face is not important than in the heart because the beauty of heart could live forever but not the beauty of face.

So, to me or to all girls in the world, we needn’t inferiority and complaint with ourselves if we don’t have beauty and wealth because the true happiness is not gained by the tow things. Actually, we should learn to be a person who is like Jane, how fearless woman.

简爱英语读后感 篇八

《Jane Eyre》 is a novel with a propensity for autobiography. Its writer, Charlotte Bronte, was born in a poor and calamitous family. They lived in a remote and backward place. It was when the revolution was in progress. The country was changing from agriculture to industry and the newly emerging bourgeoisie were expanding. These all left marks in the novel. The novel mainly describes the complicated love story between Jane Eyre and Rochester to portray a strong woman who was born humbly and lived difficultly but always persist to uphold her independent personality and pursue free individuality and advocate the equality of human life. Jane Eyre lived under another’s roof with her parents both dead. She bore different treatment form contemporaries’: Aunt’s disliking and avoiding her; cousins’ disdain, insult and beating. However, she was not desperate or didn’t destroy herself or sink into those insults. All of the misfortunes bring Jane infinite confidence, sturdy spirit and a kind of inside personality strength which can’t be defeated.

When facing Rochester, Jane never feel herself inferior because of she was a humble family teacher. She thought they were equal and she shouldn’t be disrespected because she was a servant. It was her being upright, noble, and pure that made Rochester get shocked and regard her as one can talk equally with himself in spirit. And he fell in love with her gradually. His true heart moved her and she accepted him. But when Jane

knew Rochester had a wife already, she decided she must leave. She felt her pride was hurt since she loved Rochester deeply. And she made a pretty rational decision. When there was a strong power of love and a allure of nice and wealthy life, she still insist on her individual pride. This is what reflected Jane’s spirit glamour most.

简爱英语读后感 篇九

Jane Eyre, one of the most famous works of Charlotte Bronte’s, is an inspiring story about a miserable girl who pursue freedom, independence and true love. The story of the independent minded Jane and her love affair with Mr. Rochester opened up new dimensions for women both as writer and generations of feminists. Jane Eyre, the tough girl, really impresses me very much.

One of Jane’s impressive and admiring personalities is her self-respect. She wasn’t beautiful, and the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease. But as Jane had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of self-respect in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of self-respect impresses me so much and let me feel the power inside her body.

The other gorgeous personality I value very much is her selfless love. After leaving Thornfield with a broken heart, Jane experienced quite a lot. She refused the proposal of St. John, a handsome priest who helped her a lot when she was starving. Later, Jane inherited a wealth of fortune from her uncle which she shared with her three cousins. But when hearing that Mr. Rochester had lost his eyesight and made his body serious injured while saving his mad wife in a conflagration during which his wife died and all his property was destroyed, Jane returned to Thornfield immediately and devoted her love to Mr. Rochester. What a great decision for her to go back! If I were Jane, I couldn’t promise to get married with Mr. Rochester who is in such a terrible situation. However, Jane did with all her heart!

I like the novel very much, especially the character ‘Jane Eyre’ who is a great woman in my mind. Jane makes me realize the importance of self-respect and understand what the true love is. In this sophisticated society, we may not avoid being contaminated, but we can remind ourselves of Jane Eyre and try to be an independent and strong-minded person who treasures self-esteem and true love.

简爱英语读后感 篇十

Jane Eyre, it’s one of my favorite English novels. Another one is Pride and prejudice. The two ladies, Jane and Elizabeth, are some kind of similar. Both of them are independent, long for true love, and defend against the old rules. They don’t have beautiful face, but they have beautiful minds.

When story began, Jane was a little girl living with her aunts and cousins. They didn’t like her, scolded her, treated her just like a nursemaid, and even locked her in the Red House. Later, she was sent to the Lowood School, where she met Helen, her friend. As time went by, the little poor girl grew up. Then she became a governess for a ten-year-old girl at Thornfield, where she met Mr. Rochester, her master. As a governess at Thornfield, she tasted the pleasures and pains of love. She fell in love with Rochester but had to leave him for some reasons. She found shelter at Moor House, where she focused on teaching and rejected Mr. River’s marriage. At the end, Jane returned to Thronfield after Mr. Rochester was blind. They have a quiet wedding:

“I know what it is to be love and be loved. No woman has ever been closer to her husband than I am to Edward. I am my husband’s life, and he is mine. We are always together, and have never had enough of each other’s company.”

Jane had a bad childhood, but it didn’t affect her much. She read books behind the thick curtain; she got education for eight years in poor condition; she was intelligent, sensible and wise. At the relationship with Edward Rochester, she was quite calm. The governess with her beautiful, pure and

frank soul, move Edward. Rochester was rich, clever but a little weird. Jane thought she didn’t really know him and never sure whether he was serious or joking. So she kept a distance with him. Fortunately, she came across the distance and expressed her love to Mr. Rochester:

“Do you think I can watch another woman become your bride? Do you think I’m a machine, without feelings? Do you think, because I’m small and poor and plain, that I have no soul and no heart? Well, you’re wrong! I have as much soul and heart as you. It’s my spirit that speaks to your spirit! We are equal in the sight of God!”

I think when you heard of these words, you would stand at Jane’s side definitely. And that’s love I long for. In our real life, there are many examples that ladies lose themselves and become dependent after marriage. They give up their careers and the husband and kids become their center. For another instance, some ladies get married to the man they don’t love but possess a lot. They regard their husbands as ATMs. For the former, they lose themselves in marriage; for the latter, they do exchange with marriage. Besides, some graduates fall in love with others due to loneliness. You can see such lovers break up upon several months. They do not take love seriously; they do not prepare to love somebody; even, they do not know what love is and how to love. They just pretend to know.

I’ve heard the words: who is a real man? A real man is the one you stay with but you can be yourself. When I was in high school, a Chinese poem

named To the Oak, impressed me a lot. I have to say, that’s the love I appreciate.

《简爱》读后感英文版 第十一篇

About Thomas Hardy

Thomas Hardy (1840---1928), who is an English novelist. His father is a stoneworker, who is fond of music. His parents thought much of the education of their son. He grown up in the Dorset shire, so the environment of there became the main backdrop of his writings. His writings often reflecting the change after capitalism intrude the countries in England and the people’s hard life.

At first, Hardy wrote some novels, and in his old age, he worked on poets. The novel < Tess of the D'Urbervilles > was published in the year 1891. Thomas Hardy facing the terror of the war and propagating the love-kindness, he is one of the greatest English writers.

The summary of the book

As is known to all, is the most famous novel of Thomas Hardy. Tess comes from a farmer’s family, the Durbeyfields. One day her father, John Durbeyfied learns that they are descended from the D’Urbervilles, an ancient family. There she meets Alec D’Urbervilles. Having received a job of tending to chickens, Tess stays in the D’Urbervilles. However, Angel Claire, who is remorseful for his mercilessness comes back, which makes Tess even more desperate. After Angel leaves, she kills Alec. Then she follows Angel and escape with him. They manage to hide for a while in a wood before she is arrested. She is hanged later.

In this story, the dramatis persona Tess is a beautiful, virtuous country girl. Angel Claire loves Tess, but his love is selfish, he can’t forgive her wife’s mistake, he forsakes her .Alec D’Urbervilles is an evil person, he makes Tess’s life being a tragedy.

The comment

This is a dolorous book.

This is a story of love.

Tess, the poor girl as innocent as the sleeping birds in the trees, or the small field animals in the hedges, her life destroyed by her relatives, lover and some other people. They say they love her, but they like themselves most. Her parents want her married Alec only because they want her doing some good for the family. Alec wants to possess her, because she is the most beautiful girl in the village. He makes her pregnant but can’t give her his love. Angle is tess’s true love, but his love also not consummate, he can’t forgive tess’s mistake, although he had did wrong with a women.

Why only the women had to pay? I thought of this problem for a long time. In the 19th England, women had not status, they live very hard because people’s prejudice. Tess is the victim under the not fair environment, she lives with force, and even the law thinks the insults are allowable! At the end of the book, Fortune's wheel bereaves the last thing she had—her life.

How to vindicate the women’s right? Expect change the people’s prejudice women must learn to be adamancy and independent. We must know how to take care of ourselves. We must have the ability to feed ourselves, so that we can win the independent of personality and life. And so that we can have a pure au pair love.

The word “woman” doesn’t means “puny”!
